No Religion is an Island

How can we counter social problems such as polarization, the dehumanization of others, and the decline of social norms and values? Rabbi Abraham Joshua Heschel already addressed this question in his speech “No Religion is an Island.” In the context of the rapprochement between Judaism and the Catholic Church, Heschel's speech is considered visionary. Now it is celebrating its sixtieth anniversary. Together with Christian and Jewish partners, we commemorate Heschel's life and work and discuss how his speech can inspire us today in Jewish-Christian dialogue.
