(EUJS Seminar) Beinot: The Space Between Belongings
Beinot: The Space Between Belongings
What does belonging mean when communities at the margins are drifting further apart in times of growing polarisation? Across Europe, a growing community is reshaping Jewish life from the ground up. What began as a micro-grant programme has evolved into a network of students, artists, organisers, educators, and activists creating spaces where in-betweenness is not a barrier, but a source of strength and possibility. These are stories that do not always fit neatly into dominant narratives: LGBTQI+ Jews, Jews of colour, Mizrahi and Sephardic Jews, Patrilineal Jews, refugee and migrant Jews, Jews with disabilities, and many others living at the intersections. For many, Jewish life unfolds in tension: between visibility and safety, between tradition and transformation, between rootedness and movement. This evening in Berlin invites you into these lived realities, not as abstract ideas, but as voices, experiences, and creative expression. Through storytelling, art, and conversation, we come together to listen, reflect, and connect. And to ask, collectively: what does it mean to shape the future of Jewish life in all its diversity from the margins amid growing polarisation?
What to expect:
• Artistic performance
• Panel with community leaders, artists, and policymakers
• Conversations on belonging, representation, and the future of Jewish life in Europe
• A space to connect, reflect, and imagine together.
