Creativity in Coexistence with Ben Osborn
Creativity in Co-Existence is a two-part participatory workshop for people with an artistic, literary, or research-based practice seeking to deepen their connection to Jewish culture, texts and art and to enrich their own artistic work. These workshops explore how a diaspora and migrant culture communicates through its history and identity through its art, literature and music. Each session brings a Talmudic or related textual source into dialogue with examples from art, thought, and cultural practice, focusing on questions of co-existence, narratives of diaspora, and how to nurture a cultural identity. Participants will read, discuss, and reflect together, responding with creative exercises, and are invited to bring examples from their own practise. The workshops are designed as a shared learning space where participants exchange perspectives, learn from one another’s practices, and explore how Jewish cultural history and thought can inform and be informed by their own work.
About the host: Ben Osborn is a musician, writer, and educator. Coming from a poetic folk song tradition, his work draws also from electronica and classical music, seeking to create a space in which highly personal and deeply political stories can be told.
