Family, Reproduction, and Belonging: Visions, with Orlando Meier-Brix
In this final workshop of the three-part series “Family, Reproduction and Belonging”, we look for possibilities to broaden notions of family and kinship. Queer and feminist theories, alongside Jewish texts, help us think beyond reproductive norms toward chosen families, covenantal bonds, and alternative forms of belonging. Together we explore what new visions of Jewish kinship might look like. Everyone is encouraged to attend, whether you have been to one of the previous sessions or not.
Orlando (any pronoun) is a former Kollelnik with an academic background in Jewish Studies and Queer and Gender Studies. Orlandos research and teaching bring Jewish sources and queer theory into a two-way dialogue, allowing each to illuminate and challenge the other. Orlando loves coffee, learning new instruments, and knitting.
