For the first of two sessions about Shabbat songs, Jordan will lead a guided discussion and singing of poetry and prayers from the Shabbat Evening service, including Yedid Nefesh, Lecha Dodi, and V'Shamru. The background of each text, analysis of its language and rhetoric, followed by group singing, aims to build familiarity with the words and their deeper meanings.
